Ardent Mills announced Thursday it has entered into an agreement to acquire Stone Mill, a specialty grain cleaning facility in Richardton, North Dakota, as part of its strategic growth plan to diversify beyond traditional wheat flour.
The acquisition will enhance Ardent Mills’ capabilities in cleaning and processing certified gluten-free and identity-preserved grains, pulses and seeds. Stone Mill has been a long-term partner of Ardent Mills, bringing expertise in specialty grains and microbial reduction.
“Adding Stone Mill to the Ardent Mills network reflects our commitment to strategic growth and innovation,” said Sheryl Wallace, CEO of Ardent Mills. “With Stone Mill’s capabilities, we will enhance how we deliver on better-for-you solutions for our customers.”
The Richardton facility’s strategic location will help Ardent Mills meet increasing customer demand for alternative ingredient solutions, according to company officials.
Daneen Dressler, managing partner of Stone Mill, emphasized the cultural fit between the companies.
“Over the years, Stone Mill has built a strong foundation rooted in innovation, integrity, exceptional product quality, and our people,” Dressler said. “By joining forces with Ardent Mills, we’re ensuring that Stone Mill, and the people and community who have made it what it is today, will continue to thrive.”
The acquisition aims to streamline operations and deepen supply chain partnerships, helping customers bring innovative products to market more efficiently to meet growing consumer demand for gluten-free options.
