Bushel, a leading provider of agricultural software and digital payment solutions, has introduced a mobile check deposit feature enabling farmers to deposit paper checks directly using their smartphones. The new service aims to simplify and speed up payment processing for farm operations.

Greg Sagedahl, Bushel’s Director of Fintech and a farmer in North Central Minnesota, said the feature saves valuable time. “Being able to simply take a picture and deposit a larger check from my phone saves time,” he said. “Once it’s deposited, I can use that money for fuel or supplies instead of waiting for the paper check to be processed.”

The Mobile Check Deposit tool is integrated into the Wallet feature of the Bushel Farm app and is part of the Bushel Business Account, offered through The Bancorp Bank, N.A. Deposited funds begin accruing interest immediately at a current rate of 2.75% and are insured by the FDIC up to $5 million via a sweep program bank network.

More than three-quarters of farmers, 77% according to Bushel’s 2025 State of the Farm Survey, still receive payments by paper checks, which often require trips to a bank or dealing with daily deposit limits.

Tony Morosini, Bushel’s Chief Payments Officer, noted that “farm payments are still heavily paper-based, and the amounts are often much larger than what standard mobile deposit tools are built to handle.”

Using the Bushel Visa® Debit Card, farmers can access deposited funds immediately for operating expenses including fuel, parts, and supplies, or transfer money between linked bank accounts within the app.
