AGI unveils new bucket elevator designed to reduce maintenance downtime

The system features enhanced access points and safety improvements based on direct input from grain facility operators and maintenance professionals.

Ag Growth International launched its new AGI Bucket Elevator at GEAPS Exchange 2026, targeting reduced maintenance time and improved safety in commercial grain handling operations.

The system addresses a persistent industry challenge: equipment downtime caused by difficult maintenance access. AGI developed the elevator after gathering input from operators and maintenance professionals who service equipment daily.

“When equipment is difficult to maintain, downtime is unavoidable,” said David Postill, senior vice president for North America at AGI. “Customers told us they needed faster, safer access to the components that wear the most.”

Key design improvements focus on accessibility and safety. The bucket elevator head includes multiple inspection doors and strategically placed access points for critical components. A fully removable front head panel and discharge section provide outside access to high-wear areas, eliminating confined-space entry requirements.

External throat plate adjustment allows changes from outside the elevator, while inspection trunking sections feature 9-foot-high, full-width access for improved maintenance safety. The boot design uses fully removable, non-load-bearing panels to speed maintenance tasks.

“Our engineering team focused on how maintenance work is actually performed,” said JaMall Wilson, AGI global design manager. “Every access point, inspection door and wear surface was evaluated to make maintenance tasks more efficient.”

Manufactured in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the elevator offers capacities from 10,000 to 120,000 bushels per hour with discharge heights exceeding 250 feet. The system is on display at GEAPS Exchange through Feb. 24 at Booth 804 in Kansas City, Missouri.
