Syngenta Crop Protection and Ceres Biotics have announced a agreement to expand global access to VIXERAN, an biostimulant designed to optimize nitrogen fertilizer use in agriculture. This partnership marks a step towards more sustainable farming practices worldwide.
VIXERAN, based on the endophytic bacteria Azotobacter salinestris, enhances plants' ability to access nitrogen from the environment through multiple modes of action. This biological solution complements traditional nitrogen fertilizers, offering farmers greater flexibility in their nutrient management strategies while potentially reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with synthetic fertilizer use.
Jonathan Brown, Global Head of Seedcare and Biologicals at Syngenta, emphasized the company's commitment to innovative biological solutions, stating, "Biostimulants that boost the nutrient use efficiency of crops have a significant role in strengthening the sustainability of agriculture, and are integral to Syngenta's efforts to improve both crop yields and soil health."
Emilio Marin, CEO and co-founder of Ceres Biotics, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration's potential impact: "VIXERAN will be accessible to farmers globally, and this is a big step towards building up more sustainable crop management systems."
This agreement, following a successful launch in the European Union, aims to introduce VIXERAN to markets worldwide, potentially revolutionizing nitrogen management in agriculture and contributing to more sustainable farming practices globally.
