Discovery Education and the CHS Foundation have unveiled new, free resources through the Cooperative Minds initiative aimed at helping middle and high school students explore careers in agriculture and agricultural cooperatives. The program provides interactive tools for students in grades 6-12 to learn how collaboration and creativity are combined in agricultural co-ops to support communities, address challenges, and promote growth.

The newly launched resources include the immersive experience, “HARVEST: From Seed to Success,” which allows students to take on the role of a farmer. In this interactive game, students analyze soil samples, choose crops and fertilizers, determine the optimal harvest time, and operate a combine. Educator guides and student activities are included to integrate the experience seamlessly into lesson plans.

Cooperative Minds also introduces career profile videos spotlighting diverse roles within CHS, including an electrician, a strategic sourcing specialist, and a flour production manager, showcasing the wide variety of opportunities in agriculture.

“The agricultural cooperative business model connects communities and inspires innovation every day,” said Megan Wolle, president of the CHS Foundation. “We are excited to see students dive in and grow into the next generation of agricultural professionals.”

Beth Meyer, Vice President of Corporate Partnerships at Discovery Education, added, “With gamified learning, we put students in the driver’s seat so they can experience what it’s like to work in the agricultural industry, broadening their horizons and career possibilities.”
