Scoular scholarship program awards funds to employees' children

The Paul & Julie Maass Scholarship program awards thirteen scholarships to college-bound students.

Thirteen deserving students, children of Scoular and Petsource employees, have been selected to receive college scholarships through the Paul & Julie Maass Scholarship program. This initiative, launched three years ago, is funded by Scoular’s CEO Paul Maass and his wife, Julie, to support the educational aspirations of their employees' families.

For the 2024-25 academic year, nine scholarships of $5,000 each and four scholarships of $2,500 each were awarded. The recipients, consisting of high school seniors and current college students, were chosen based on a combination of factors, including financial need, leadership qualities, demonstration of compassion for others, and academic performance.

Paul Maass expressed his and his wife's gratitude for being able to contribute to the educational pursuits of these students. “We hope this support makes a positive impact for each of these fantastic students and their families,” he said, extending his congratulations and best wishes for their academic success.

The $5,000 scholarship winners are:

  • Charlie Bales, daughter of Robert Bales from Fremont, Nebraska.
  • Emma Heppner, daughter of Mark Heppner from Pittsburg, Kansas.
  • Nirvana Krocak, daughter of Steve Krocak from Minneapolis.
  • Bailey Nessen, daughter of Brandon Nessen from Ogden, Utah.
  • Manuel Ordaz, son of Rocio Ordaz from Seward, Nebraska.
  • Briella Rubio, daughter of Mike Rubio from Goodland, Kansas.
  • Isaiah Rubio, son of Mike Rubio from Goodland, Kansas.
  • Jackson Sinsel, son of Rebecca Sinsel from Sutherland, Nebraska.
  • Shawnelle Smith, daughter of Jason Smith from Pittsburg, Kansas.

The $2,500 scholarship winners are:

  • Conner Peck, son of Diana Peck from Salina, Kansas.
  • Jordan Peck, daughter of Diana Peck from Salina, Kansas.
  • Gerardo Pena, Scoular employee from Goodland, Kansas.
  • Ben Schmidt, son of Peter Nyachira from Pittsburg, Kansas.

The scholarships represent a significant contribution to the educational growth of these students, reflecting the Maasses' commitment to nurturing the next generation's success.
