The event was held in partnership with the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum.

A 16-person delegation represented the Council, led by Chairman Jay Reiners and President and CEO Ryan LeGrand. The group included Council staff and members from across the U.S. ethanol value chain.

“Against a backdrop of shared commitments to energy security and rural economic development, the summit highlighted opportunities to scale ethanol production and technologies across both countries,” Reiners said.

The event drew U.S. and Indian leaders, researchers and industry partners to examine challenges facing increased ethanol blending mandates, expanded industrial ethanol uses in consumer products and the health benefits of ethanol for people and the environment.

USGBC Regional Director for South Asia Reece Cannady spoke during the event.

The opening session covered on-road blending in both nations, including the Renewable Fuel Standard and India’s recent achievement of a nationwide 20% ethanol blend in gasoline.

Later discussions explored ethanol’s role in sustainable aviation fuel, clean cooking, biomanufacturing and sustainable marine fuel. These applications represent major market opportunities while reducing carbon emissions.

Following the summit, the Council’s team met with stakeholders in India’s energy and transportation sectors to discuss market potential.

“Mutual collaboration throughout the event helped identify actionable pathways for joint research and development, technology transfers and other partnerships that lower costs and increase throughput for fuel and industrial grade ethanol in all its diverse uses,” Reiners said.
