Iowa Corn has announced the selection of 27 college students from across the state to participate in the 2025-2026 Collegiate Advisory Team program, designed to deepen students' understanding of the corn industry.
The team consists of two peer mentors and 25 students representing 11 different colleges and universities, with Iowa State University contributing the largest contingent with 13 participants.
During the year-long program, students will visit the Capitol, tour industry operations and build professional connections outside traditional classroom settings. The team will meet four times throughout the school year, focusing on leadership development, effective communication, policy education and industry relations.
"Iowa Corn is dedicated to developing the current and future farmers to best serve the industry," said Joe Roberts, a farmer from Wright County and Iowa Corn Promotion Board President. "I gained my first experience with Iowa Corn when I had the privilege of serving on CAT while I was in college."
Roberts emphasized the program's value beyond academics. "Getting engaged in your industry and networking with fellow farmers is something that is valuable and important. The skills gained in CAT provide an outside of the classroom experience, benefiting the next generation."
The selected students come from diverse backgrounds and represent community colleges, private universities and public institutions across Iowa. Two peer mentors, Ashlee David from Graceland University and Henry Rose from Iowa State University, will help guide the program.
The initiative reflects Iowa Corn's commitment to preparing the next generation of agricultural leaders through hands-on industry experience.
