
Dr. LaKisha Odom, scientific program director at the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR), has received two significant accolades for her contributions to agriculture, sustainability, and inclusion in science. The American Society of Agronomy (ASA), along with the Crop Science Society of America and the Soil Science Society of America — collectively known as the Tri-Societies — named Dr. Odom and FFAR as the 2024 recipients of the ASA Presidential Award. This honor celebrates individuals or teams whose work has fundamentally influenced agronomic science, with lasting impacts on crop production practices. Dr. Odom will accept the award on November 11 at the Tri-Societies Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Texas.
In addition, Dr. Odom was selected as a third-place winner in the Technology and Research category of the 2024 Women in Ag Award, presented by the German Agricultural Society (DLG) and Women in Ag magazine. Chosen from over 100 nominees from 34 countries, Dr. Odom’s recognition highlights her contributions to local, national, and international agriculture. She will be honored in a virtual ceremony with a pre-recorded speech during the EuroTier trade fair in Hanover, Germany, on November 13.
Dr. Odom’s work at FFAR is at the forefront of sustainable agriculture and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). She leads DEI efforts and research initiatives that advance regenerative agriculture, equitable food access, and sustainable farming practices. “Being selected for this award is an incredible affirmation that the work I do at FFAR resonates with and is appreciated by so many around the world,” Dr. Odom shared. “I am deeply honored by this recognition and humbled to be counted among such talented, passionate and inspiring women.”
