Stand Up 4 Grain Safety Week set for March 30-April 3

Industry organizations partner to offer five days of complimentary safety training focused on L.E.A.R.N. theme: Listen, Explain, Ask, Remember, Notify.

Stand Up 4 Grain Safety Week

GEAPS, OSHA, the Grain Handling Safety Council and the National Grain and Feed Association have partnered to produce Stand Up 4 Grain Safety Week, offering five days of complimentary training accessible from anywhere during the week of March 30-April 3, 2026.

Every year dozens of employees are injured or die from preventable hazards while working in grain storage and handling. The theme for this year's Stand Up 4 Grain Safety Week is L.E.A.R.N.—Listen, Explain, Ask, Remember, Notify.

The L.E.A.R.N. acronym embodies the purpose behind Stand Up 4 Grain Safety Week. Each word represents the action and interaction necessary to increase awareness, knowledge and practices to ensure a safe workplace.

Training is offered in both English and Spanish and designed to keep workers and teams safe.

The week kicks off March 30 with a livestreamed event from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. This hybrid event will emphasize the importance of Stand Up 4 Grain Safety Week and highlight how focusing on safety can benefit the entire industry.

Tuesday's virtual training features Dr. Carol Jones discussing how facility design flaws and structural problems create hazards. Wednesday's session with Dr. Aaron Yoder covers ergonomics. Thursday's two-part virtual session features Dave Newcomb from IFSI on critical safety devices and Todd Albert from ADM on hazard monitoring systems. Friday's training with Carlos Gallegos focuses on effective safety training methods.

By signing up, participants gain access to resources to help create a safer work environment and reinforce the importance of safety in the grain and grain processing industries.
