The NetNewsledger news team reported on Thunder Bay Fire Rescue (TBFR) responded to a potentially dangerous situation at the Richardson terminal grain elevator in Current River on Tuesday morning. Around 8:00 AM, an automatic fire alarm alerted firefighters to smoke and high temperatures in machinery located on the upper level of the bin floor.

Firefighters were particularly concerned about the risk of a dust explosion, a serious hazard in grain storage facilities. The challenge was further compounded by malfunctioning equipment and extremely hot and humid weather, which made the situation more difficult to manage.
