Fire Brigade 4225089 1280

The WAND Digital Team reported on a fire that broke out at Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) Company's processing plant in Decatur on Monday afternoon, but no injuries were reported, according to the company. The fire occurred in the Sorbitol production department, located near ADM’s East Plant.

ADM Spokesman Dane Lisser stated that nearby operations were shut down, and employees were evacuated as a precaution. The "all-clear" was given by 4:30 p.m. The fire caused visible blackened areas near the roof of the affected building, and several ladder trucks were utilized to contain the situation. The cause of the fire remains unclear. ADM sent a message to customers indicating that corn trucks would not be accepted for delivery on Monday, and an evening update confirmed that corn shipments would also be suspended on Tuesday. A timeline for resuming operations has not been announced.
