Firefighters spent hours working to rescue a man trapped in a Christian County, Illinois, grain bin Monday.

The 24 year-old man is recovering after being rescued from a grain bin full of soybeans in rural Mount Auburn, IL.

According to reports, the man was conscious and talking to sheriff’s deputies after the rescue.

First responders got to the man by 10:15 a.m. and found he had fallen into the beans, which were up to his chest. Rescue team members put the man in a harness to prevent him from sinking further. Then, they cut holes in the bin to allow the beans to empty out, which took nearly three hours.

Flight medics treated him in the grain bin before he was flown to a nearby hospital. Family members said he is not expected to have any long-term injuries.
