According to reporting from Sarah Gray Barr and Mekaela Muck for WNCT 9, a grain mill at JC Howard Farms in Deep Run, North Carolina, resumed normal business operations on Friday, despite enduring a substantial fire on Thursday. The fire, which originated inside a working grain bin, led to the loss of several hundred thousand pounds of animal feed.

Volunteer fire departments from Deep Run, Pink Hill, Southwood, and Sandy Bottom responded swiftly to the emergency call, successfully containing and extinguishing the fire. Lenoir County Public Information Officer Bryan Hanks commended the fire departments for their exemplary work, noting that the situation could have been significantly worse without their intervention.

Despite the destruction of the grain bin and its contents, Lenoir County Emergency Services confirmed that there were no injuries resulting from the incident. The rapid response and effective management of the fire by the local volunteer teams played a crucial role in mitigating the impact of the blaze and allowing for the quick resumption of operations at the grain mill.
