Farmers Cooperative Society (FCS) announces the construction of a state-of-the-art grain elevator in southeast South Dakota.

The Union Grove elevator will be located nine miles directly south of Beresford, South Dakota, and one quarter mile East of I-29 Exit 38. The construction will start in March and will accept soybeans in the fall of 2023.

FCS is committed to our South Dakota customers and their communities, said John McDaniel, CEO.

“Building this new facility is a reminder of our commitment to our members and communities in this area," said McDaniel. "We are excited to expand further into southeast South Dakota and continue strengthening our relationships with producers, schools, FFA programs, and communities."

State-of-the-art technology to deliver convenience

The facility will feature state-of-the-art technology and will be high-speed and convenient for customers.

The site will consist of a 2.5 million bushel flat storage building and an unloading system capable of unloading grain at 30,000 bushels/hour.

“We are excited about expanding our operations in South Dakota," said Tyler Farnham, senior director of grain operation. "The highlight of this facility will be speed and efficiency. We know that’s a top priority for our customers, and we will deliver on that for them."

The Union Grove facility will be able to scale in, dump and scale out trucks in under five minutes.

Location chosen to allow growth

The location was specifically chosen with future expansion in mind. It will allow FCS to further develop the site with plans to accept corn in the next few years.

Union Grove will offer several services to growers as FCS plans on offering competitive grain marketing options, agronomy services and operations and their feed service portfolios.

In addition to offering competitive grain marketing options, the grain service team helps customers navigate the commodity markets, find the right contracts to mitigate their risk, arrange direct ship programs, and provide the best customer service to our customers.

FCS offers a full-service agronomy division. It carries full fertilizer, chemical product lines, a range of seed products, and a trusted Precision Ag Team. Union Grove's Agronomist will be Tyson Martinmaas, CCA, 4RNMS, and PASp. Tyson has 10 years of experience working in agriculture and enjoys partnering with his producers to reach their agronomic goals.

FCS is a member-owned, full-service cooperative. FCS has 10 locations across Northwest Iowa and Southeast South Dakota. FCS offers agronomy, feed, and grain sales and services. They also operate the How-to-Building Center in Sioux Center.
