G3 Canada has unveiled plans for a new grain terminal at the Port of Trois-Rivières, Quebec, set to replace the current facility. The project aims to enhance efficiency, improve safety and minimize environmental impact in the region's grain industry.
The new 65,000-metric-tonne facility will feature three high-speed receiving lanes, designed to reduce wait times and increase grain handling capacity. G3 will also install three modern ship loaders equipped with advanced dust control technology as part of the port's Terminal 16 and 17 project.
"G3 is excited to make this significant investment in the Port of Trois-Rivières," said Don Chapman, CEO of G3. "This new facility will strengthen our commitment to Quebec producers and provide an improved experience for our customers while supporting the growth of the region's grain industry."
The redevelopment will improve traffic flow to and from the port, enhancing supply chain efficiency. Philippe Belanger, Director of Eastern Canada Operations, emphasized the facility's importance for Quebec producers, providing direct access to global markets.
Demolition of the existing G3 silos is scheduled for March 2025. During construction, G3 will implement contingency plans involving its locations in St-Denis and Quebec to maintain service to producers.
The project is expected to be completed before the 2027 growing season, marking a significant step in modernizing grain handling infrastructure in the region.
