Farmward Cooperative names Alex Busch as senior VP of grain

Experienced grain trader to lead cooperative's market development efforts.

Farmward Cooperative has appointed Alex Busch as its new senior vice president of grain, the company announced Tuesday.

Busch brings extensive experience in grain trading, cooperative leadership and strategic market development to the role. He previously served as senior vice president of trading and business development at Direct Source Ingredients, specializing in bulk feed commodity trading.

From 2021 to 2023, Busch was CEO and general manager of Farmers Cooperative Elevator in Hanley Falls, Minnesota. His career also includes nine years at CHS Inc., where he held various trading and leadership positions.

John Husk, CEO of Farmward, said Busch's expertise will provide members with access to the best grain marketing alternatives.

Busch expressed enthusiasm for joining Farmward, citing the cooperative's commitment to its patrons' needs in a rapidly changing agricultural landscape.

"I'm excited to continue and build on the strong foundation that has been built in the grain division at Farmward and bring some different ideas and perspectives to the business," Busch said.

His appointment comes at a crucial time for Farmward as it seeks to enhance its ability to analyze and respond to local and global grain markets.
