Amandus Kahl is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2026 under the motto “150 Years of Innovation – Tradition with a Future.” Founded in Hamburg in 1876 as Wendte & Kahl, the company initially focused on stoves and ovens before evolving into a global leader in pellet mills, process engineering, and complete production plants.
A key milestone came with the acquisition of an iron foundry in Stade, which laid the foundation for in-house production and specialization in mill and plant construction. In 1965, Amandus Kahl consolidated its operations in Reinbek, bringing administration, engineering, design, and production under one roof. The Reinbek site, spanning about five hectares, remains the company’s central hub and continues to expand with modern production capacities.
Internationally recognized for developing the flat-die pellet mill in the 1920s, Amandus Kahl has continuously adapted this core product to meet the needs of feed, biomass, recycling, food, chemical, and pharmaceutical industries. Its portfolio now includes expanders, extruders, pan grinder mills, crushing roller mills, driers, coolers, and fluidized bed plants, offering both individual machines and turnkey production lines.
As the flagship of the KAHL Group, which includes nine market leaders and about 900 employees, Amandus Kahl benefits from a broad range of expertise. Its pilot plant supports customers by testing raw materials and developing formulations for industrial applications.
Managing Director Joachim Behrmann said the anniversary is a moment to honor the company’s legacy while embracing future innovation rooted in experience and curiosity.
