Agriculture co-ops dominate NCB’s 2024 Co-op 100 Report

CHS maintains its lead this year, with Land O’Lakes and GROWMARK landing in the top 10.

National Cooperative Bank (NCB) has released its annual NCB Co-op 100 list, ranking the nation’s top 100 revenue-earning cooperative businesses.

With 47 companies, agriculture cooperatives make up nearly half of the NCB Co-op 100 list, reporting a combined $174.8 billion in total revenue. Overall, the 100 cooperatives on the list generated $323 billion in revenue in 2024, underscoring the significant role cooperative enterprises play in the U.S. economy.

Top 10 Agriculture Co-ops by Revenue

  1. CHS Inc. – $39.3 billion (No. 1 of 100)
  2. Dairy Farmers of America – $23 billion (No. 2 of 100)
  3. Land O'Lakes Inc. – $16.2 billion (No. 3 of 100)
  4. GROWMARK Inc. – $12.2 billion (No. 7 of 100)
  5. Ag Processing Inc. – $6.5 billion (No. 12 of 100)
  6. Prairie Farms Dairy Inc. – $4.7 billion (No. 13 of 100)
  7. California Dairies Inc. – $4.3 billion (No. 15 of 100)
  8. Select Milk Producers Inc. – $3 billion (No. 19 of 100)
  9. Darigold – $2.8 billion (No. 22 of 100)
  10. NEW Cooperative Inc. – $2.7 billion (ranked 25 of 100)

Both CHS Inc. and Dairy Farmers of America maintained their respective rankings from last year.

Since 1991, NCB has published the annual Co-op 100, the only report of its kind tracking and highlighting the performance of cooperative businesses across multiple sectors — from agriculture and energy to finance, healthcare, hardware and grocery.

The United Nations has designated 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives, bringing global attention to the vital role co-ops play in sustainable development. The yearlong celebration highlights how cooperatives contribute to poverty reduction, economic resilience and inclusive growth in communities worldwide.
