The Schenck Process Group continues the positive development of previous quarters and records a strong half-year performance despite CoViD-19 challenges, reflecting a significant pickup in global markets and ongoing advancements of its strategic agenda. Driven by major contract wins in several end markets, order intake in HY1 2021 reached an all-time high of 517m€ with order intake growth of 100%1 in our strategic focus markets of Food and Mining. New Original Equipment orders totaling 357m€ were up 155%1 over the prior year period. On a global level, Aftermarket activities returned to growth as they recovered from CoViD-19 effects.

A strong project pipeline across end markets and regions, translated into a record order book of 523m€ at June 30, 2021, an increase of 84%1 with over 220m€ due for delivery in 2022 and beyond, demonstrating the ongoing strength of the business model.

Positive developments within the first two quarters were characterized by continued strong customer ties, successful collaboration across regions and the acceleration of the Group’s digital agenda:

In the Americas, innovation and close collaboration with customers continue to be main value and growth drivers. In Mining, the Group achieved a major milestone installing a newly developed elliptical motion screen capable of handling fluctuations in material properties outperforming competitors’ efficacy by up to 50%. In pet food, Schenck Process experienced a significant increase in order value projects, thanks to its strong track record as a leading pet food project solutions provider.

In the Asia Pacific region, the Group continues its transformation from a product to a solution provider. This is illustrated by recent contract wins in India, which range from supplying newly developed pulverizing equipment, to designing and manufacturing complete solutions for limestone and gypsum handling systems. A further milestone in the expansion of its solutions capabilities was the acquisition of Solid Handling and Process Engineering Co., Ltd. (SHAPE), a major supplier and specialist in providing powder handling & powder processing solutions located in Bangkok, Thailand.

Across EMEA, the Group drives growth through sustainability. For example, Schenck Process works closely with its European cement customers, to support the industry on their transition from coal dust feeding to sustainable fuel alternatives. Further regional highlights include first results from a real-world pilot of the Group’s proprietary IoT solution, CONiQ Cloud. Effective and timely failure detection recently prevented massive unplanned machine shutdowns at a limestone customer site in Germany, once more demonstrating the advancements in Schenck Process’ digital transformation.

Keith Cochrane, CEO, commented:

“Our strong performance in the first half of 2021 validates our long-term strategic agenda which is underpinned by significant order intake and a record order book. Seeing positive trends across the business, I am confident that as we effectively execute our strategic agenda and deliver on customer commitments, we will see a strong financial performance in 2021.”
