The National Corn Growers Association (NCGA) revealed the winners of its 2025 Yield Contest, highlighting the strength and ingenuity of U.S. corn farmers amid favorable growing conditions. This year’s contest, now in its 61st year, attracted nearly 7,800 entries from 47 states, with verified yields averaging 269 bushels per acre across 10 production categories.
The standout performance came from David Hula of Charles City, Virginia, who achieved a remarkable 572.2589 bushels per acre in the Class H strip-till irrigated category — the highest yield recorded in the contest.
Ohio grower and NCGA President Jed Bower emphasized the contest’s role in pushing the boundaries of what corn can achieve. “The Yield Contest is really about finding out what this crop is capable of,” Bower said. “It challenges participants to find innovative ways to succeed and contribute to decades of agronomic data that prove that American farmers are great at what we do.”
NCGA plans to honor the 30 national and 567 state winners at Commodity Classic in San Antonio, Texas, from February 25 to 27, 2026. The event will celebrate the achievements that continue to drive progress in corn production nationwide.
