The American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) has issued a statement “to set the record straight” in response to media reports alleging the use of chicken litter in dairy cattle diets has contributed to the spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) virus on dairy farms.
In a statement, AFIA President and CEO Constance Cullman said the association is “concerned with recent sensational headlines and articles falsely accusing feeding practices of spreading the HPAI virus on dairy farms without fully disclosing the facts.”
