The Daily Item's Justin Strawser reported on the opening of the White Deer Feed Mill in Union County, Pennsylvania, a $58 million facility owned by Country View Family Farms, is set to begin production in mid-October, employing 51 workers. The facility, located on a 100-acre rail-served site, will produce 8,000 tons of feed weekly to support the company’s hog production, impacting 975,000 hogs across Pennsylvania.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony drew local and state officials, including Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding and state Sen. Gene Yaw, who praised the project’s contribution to the state’s agricultural economy. The project received a $255,000 Pennsylvania First grant as part of the state’s economic development strategy.
The feed mill, originally projected to cost $47.3 million, is expected to expand to produce 10,000 tons of feed weekly as operations grow. Based in Middletown, Country View Family Farms is a subsidiary of the Clemens Family Corporation and manages over 100 contract hog farms.
