North America continues to assert its position as a powerhouse in global feed manufacturing, with 30 companies across the United States, Canada and Mexico producing at least 1 million metric tons (MMT) of compound feed, according to the 2025 edition of WATT Global Media’s exclusive Top Feed Companies database.
The annual ranking is compiled by WATT Global Media's research team, capturing the scale and concentration of feed manufacturing across the globe. The findings highlight North America's concentration of large-scale, vertically integrated operations — particularly in the poultry sector — that position the region as the second-largest contributor to worldwide feed manufacturing.
To capture the most accurate information, Feed & Grain’s analysis focuses on the previous calendar year’s (2024) compound feed volumes.
North America remains a leader in global feed production
The region's top 30 feed companies produced 110.8 MMT of compound feed in 2024, increasing roughly 350,000 metric tons from the previous year. According to Alltech's 2025 Agri-Food Outlook survey, this represents 38% of the estimated 290.7 MMT total North American compound feed volume.
The United States dominates the North American Top Companies rankings with 27 companies. Mexico appears on the list twice (Industrias Bachoco at No. 6 and Proteína Animal (PROAN) at No. 9) and Canada is represented once (Sollio Cooperative Group at No. 24).
On a global scale, North American firms are strongly represented in WATT Global Media’s World’s Top Feed Companies ranking. Of the report’s 146 companies, Asia leads with 56, while Europe and North America each have 30 firms. South America has 15, the Middle East contributes 10, and smaller representation comes from Africa, Australia and Central America.
