Grain elevator fire burning for weeks in Iowa

A fire inside an Iowa grain elevator has been burning since December 21 after materials inside 'self-combusted.'

According to reports, the elevator at Innovative Ag Services in Garden City, Iowa, feeds six silos which are normally filled with grain.

On January 3, the fire was only smoldering, but fire crews were on standby in case of flare ups.

Crews from Gregerson Salvage are removing the grain manually.

Innovative Ag Services provides products and services to more than 5,000 members in the grain, agronomy, feed, energy and building supply markets. It has over 30 locations located throughout northeast and central Iowa and southwestern Wisconsin.
