Tyson Foods has announced additional layoffs at its Wilkesboro, North Carolina, poultry processing plant.

The company did not disclose how many jobs would be cut, but local officials estimate the number to be about 500 out of the 2,500 employed, according to local media outlet Wilkes Journal-Patriot, adding that the plant is being converted to a bulk processing facility.
