New relationship aligns Big River directly with export markets through CGB

Consolidated Grain and Barge Co. (CGB) and Agspring announce an agreementto begin providing managerial and marketing services to Big River Rice & Grain, an Agspring company, headquartered in Pioneer, LA.

This new relationship aligns Big River directly with export markets through CGB’s longstanding and reliable record supplying foreign feed markets with both corn and soybeans.

Over the last six months Agspring has debottlenecked the Big River barge loading facility increasing inbound capacity by 25% and further optimizing barge loading times. This results in greater delivery efficiencies for producers and improved environmental impact. Seth Post, formerly regional facilities manager for CGB, has joined Big River as general manager.

“CGB is excited to further expand its network in the Mississippi Delta, and we look forward to providing marketing and managerial services to Big River Rice and Grain,” says Greg Beck, senior vice president, Grain Division. “CGB prides itself on providing a high level of customer service, and we will diligently serve this extended customer base through keen attention to detail, paired with expertly developed risk management tools.”

The day of a single barge loading facility not tied directly to an export elevator is over, says Mark Beemer, CEO of Agspring. "This relationship changes the Big River model moving forward resulting in benefits to our producers who will be aligned directly with a large and sophisticated exporter of grain," he says.
