US soybean exports surge 48% as China, Germany lead purchases

Net sales of soybeans totaled 668,900 metric tons for the week ending March 19, up notably from the previous week and 89% above the prior four-week average.

U.S. soybean exports totaled 1.34 million metric tons for the week ending March 19, up 48% from the previous week and 45% from the prior four-week average, according to the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service's weekly export sales report.

Net sales of 668,900 metric tons for 2025/2026 were up notably from the previous week and 89% above the prior four-week average. Increases were primarily for China at 263,000 metric tons, Germany at 201,500 metric tons, Mexico at 164,100 metric tons, Japan at 111,600 metric tons and Taiwan at 30,000 metric tons.

The primary export destinations were China at 665,000 metric tons, Germany at 201,500 metric tons, Egypt at 184,000 metric tons, Mexico at 75,300 metric tons and Japan at 63,100 metric tons.

Corn net sales of 1.22 million metric tons for 2025/2026 were up 4% from the previous week but down 10% from the prior four-week average. Increases were primarily for Mexico at 428,600 metric tons, Colombia at 319,400 metric tons, the Dominican Republic at 97,200 metric tons, Vietnam at 71,900 metric tons and Spain at 61,100 metric tons.

Corn exports of 1.68 million metric tons were down 4% from the previous week and 5% from the prior four-week average. The destinations were primarily Mexico at 397,600 metric tons, Japan at 301,800 metric tons, Colombia at 292,900 metric tons, Spain at 131,100 metric tons and the Dominican Republic at 124,800 metric tons.

Wheat net sales of 397,200 metric tons for 2025/2026 were up notably from the previous week and 46% above the prior four-week average. Increases were primarily for the Philippines at 69,700 metric tons, Taiwan at 67,800 metric tons, Mexico at 63,700 metric tons, Haiti at 43,000 metric tons and Japan at 35,600 metric tons.

Wheat exports of 383,500 metric tons were unchanged from the previous week but down 10% from the prior four-week average. The destinations were primarily Mexico at 103,200 metric tons, China at 68,400 metric tons, Taiwan at 49,800 metric tons, the Philippines at 37,700 metric tons and Japan at 36,000 metric tons.

Soybean cake and meal net sales of 507,600 metric tons for 2025/2026 were up notably from the previous week and from the prior four-week average. Exports of 379,500 metric tons were down 5% from the previous week but up 2% from the prior four-week average.
