The Animal Agriculture Alliance Announces Staff Promotions

Allyson Jones-Brimmer and Casey Whitaker move to new roles

The Animal Agriculture Alliance is pleased to announce the promotions of Allyson Jones-Brimmer to director of membership and Casey Whitaker to communications manager, effective May 15, 2017.

Jones-Brimmer joined the Alliance in April 2015 as membership and marketing manager. Over the past two years, she has improved the organization’s membership recruitment, engagement and retention process. Under her leadership, 65 new members have joined the Alliance and membership retention has been 95%. In her new role as director of membership, Jones-Brimmer will focus on raising awareness and recognition of the Alliance brand with external stakeholders as well as growing Alliance membership and sponsorship.

“Allyson’s tremendous work ethic and organizational skills have brought consistency and accuracy to our membership development process, and her new role will allow her to devote more resources to getting the word out about the Alliance and encouraging more stakeholders to be involved,” said Kay Johnson Smith, Alliance president and CEO. “I can’t wait to see how much we will be able to grow and provide more value to our members with Allyson as our director of membership.”

Before coming to the Alliance, Jones-Brimmer worked in a sales and customer service role with Farm Credit East. She grew up in northern New York, where she gained experience in the dairy industry through working on farms and in a cheese processing plant. Jones-Brimmer holds a B.S. in animal science and agriculture science and an M.A. in agricultural education from Cornell University.

Whitaker began working at the Alliance in February 2015 as a communications intern and transitioned into a full-time role as communications coordinator in May 2015. Since she took responsibility for managing the Alliance’s social media strategy, engagement has increased by 119 percent on Facebook alone. As communications manager, Whitaker will take a more active role in issues management and media relations and will be responsible for producing content such as press releases and letters.

“Casey’s creativity and relentless pursuit of continuous improvement have driven tangible results in our social media outreach and engagement,” said Johnson Smith. “Because of Casey, we have a new and improved legislative map, more user-friendly online resource library, and countless updated member resources. I know she will bring that same commitment to her new responsibilities and help us expand our communications, issues management and media engagement efforts.”

Whitaker holds a B.S. in agricultural communication from Auburn University and will begin pursuing a M.A. in communication from George Mason University this fall. While pursuing her undergraduate education, she interned at the Alabama Cooperative Extension System writing news stories and managing social media.

“Both Casey and Allyson have consistently gone above and beyond to promote the Alliance mission of bridging the communication gap between farm and fork,” said Kay Johnson Smith, Alliance president and CEO. “We are extremely fortunate to have such passionate and skilled individuals as part of our team and thank them for their dedication to securing a brighter future for animal agriculture.”
