Rock River Laboratory celebrates 50 years since its incorporation in July 1976, when founder Don Meyer, his wife Karen, and his parents Bill and Marge Meyer established a soil analysis laboratory on their family farm.
The business started in response to requests from local retailers who needed soil testing services for southern Wisconsin farmers. The laboratory expanded to include feed and forage analysis by 1979.
Rock River Laboratory became the first facility to adopt Near-Infrared analysis technology and later introduced the first robotic systems for soil organic matter and pH testing. The laboratory also was the first to offer comprehensive nutrient management planning services with on-staff planners for Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations.
The second generation now leads the company, with Zachery Meyer serving as CEO and Lauren Ebert in a leadership role. The laboratory network has expanded across North America, with associate laboratories operating worldwide.
The organization contributes research abstracts to the American Dairy Science Association Annual Meeting and collaborates with industry partners on research and development projects.
The laboratory employs specialists in agricultural testing and provides analytical services to customers globally.
