The National Sorghum Foundation (NSF) and BASF are pleased to announce the NSF/BASF joint scholarship was awarded to Zoe Schultz from Kansas State University. Schultz, a junior studying agricultural communications, will receive $5,000 to be applied during the 2021-2022 academic year.
“The National Sorghum Foundation congratulates Zoe on this accomplishment and is thankful for the opportunity to partner with BASF to award this scholarship to an exceptional student,” National Sorghum Foundation Chairman Larry Lambright says. “We look forward to continuing this partnership and helping hard working, academic leaders succeed.”
In her application, Schultz said she believes sorghum plays an important role for sustainability in the 21st century because of its water conserving abilities and potential for economic profitability. Originally from Grainfield, KS, Schultz has been surrounded by grain crops her entire life, which she said gives her the desire to influence consumers and impact producers in a positive way.
After graduating, she plans to return to her family operation and begin a career in seed sales and marketing.
