New facilities boost handling and processing capacity

A wave of construction and expansion projects is reshaping the grain handling and soybean processing landscape across North America.

Major agricultural companies are constructing and expanding over 20 facilities across North America through 2027 to significantly boost grain, soybean, and oilseed handling and processing capacity. These projects include new crushing plants, grain terminals, and processing facilities that will increase annual production capacity by millions of bushels and create hundreds of jobs across the agricultural sector.

The plant will crush 7.5 million bushels of soybeans annually and create 50 high-quality jobs.

Bunge Chevron Ag | renewables oilseed plant
Location: Destrehan, Louisiana
Planned completion: 2026
The new plant will feature a flexible design, intended to allow the processing of soybeans, as well as softseeds and novel winter oilseed crops.

Location: Courtland, Kansas
Planned completion: Summer 2025
Will provide a high-speed shuttle loader on a loop track with access to BNSF Railroad and on-site storage of approximately 5.5 million bushels.

Planned completion: Fall 2025
Will be able to process up to 35 million bushels annually, or about 1 million tons of high-oil-content product.

Designed to produce highly functional, taste-neutral and nutritious pea protein ingredients suitable for a wide range of applications.

Location: Ontario, Canada

Includes the construction of new grain drying equipment, expansion of grain storage capacity, loading capacity and an automated truck kiosk.

The expansion will boost storage capacity by 50% and slash car loading times in half. Additionally, the cooperative expects to more than double its truck receiving speed, increasing velocity by 2.5 times the current rate.

The facility is expected to significantly benefit the Texas Panhandle region by enhancing local feed supply and strengthening agricultural capabilities.

Upgrades include four concrete slipform silos with three interstice bins, adding 1.65 million bushels of storage, along with two 25,000 bushel/hour receiving pits and a 50,000 bushel/hour transfer conveyor connecting to the existing facility.

The elevator will feature three 20,000 bushel/hour receiving pits with drying capacity of 7,500 bushels/hour.

The facility plans to add 2.5 million bushels of storage in order to reliably handle corn during harvest.

The elevator will double its storage capacity, and improve receiving and drying speeds to improve the ability to handle corn, soybeans and spring wheat.
