Weather update

The USDA’s November 15 bulletin reports the arrival of Hurricane Nicole in the U.S. marks the first November hurricane since 1985. Nicole brought extensive rain and tropical storm force winds to Florida and the Southeast, with remnant storms affecting the entire east coast.

The rain added to stream flows in the Ohio river basin and overall brought relief from lingering dry conditions. Parts of the west coast also saw precipitation in the form of snow and blizzards while colder than average conditions dominated from the west coast to the northern plains.

The eastern half of the country, from southern Texas to the Atlantic coast saw perhaps the last of warmer than average temperatures for the season.
