Insect meal startup on path to rapid expansion after pivot, founder says

As other high-profile insect startups fold, Full Circle Biotechnology has found success in selling finished feed directly to fish farmers, company founder says.

Felix Collins, founder and CEO of Full Circle Biotechnology, still believes insect meal has a place in animal feed, but maybe not as a standalone product just yet.

At a time when other leading insect companies are closing or looking to restructure, Full Circle Biotechnology is on track to build a new 7,000 metric ton facility northwest of Bangkok this fall, and could build a second facility as soon as next year, Collins told Feed Strategy. The expansion, he said, is warranted by a sudden explosion in demand for the company's primary product: not insect meal, as originally envisioned, but finished aquafeed.
