The availability and prices of amino acids and vitamins used in the animal feed industry have fluctuated in recent years for several reasons, including supply chain disruptions, geopolitical tensions, rising demand and production issues. This has been a cause for concern for the U.S. animal feed industry.
Prices for vitamins and amino acids have stabilized compared with a few years ago, but pricing for amino acids are sensitive to raw material costs and global trade policies. Meanwhile, vitamin pricing challenges remain due to environmental regulations in China, one of only a handful of producers of several vitamin and amino acid products.
