Scott County, IL, could be home to an ethanol plant within several years, says a report at The Telegraph.
The operation could be built in Bluffs, IL, by 2020.
Hennepin-based Marquis Energy LLC has been exploring the idea and only has to finalize permits to begin a two-phase process of building a plant. The company would hire about 95 employees locally.
Marquis Energy began in 2008 as an ethanol facility producing 100 million gallons a year and by 2015 was the largest dry-mill ethanol facility in the United States, according to the company’s website. It has a production capacity of about 1 million gallons of fuel-grade ethanol a day.
In addition to the Hennepin, IL, site, the company has a facility in Necedah, WI.
