Farmers Elevator Inc. completed construction of its new Scottville, IL, facility this summer. The facility features a new 457,000-bushel grain bin, reports the Journal Courier.
Don Bergschneider, who oversees the Scottville's elevator, said the improvements should benefit farmers. A new receiving leg will move corn, soybeans and wheat at the rate of 13,000 bushels/hour. The elevator also sports a new 900-bushel grain dump pit.
In addition to the increased speed, Bergschneider says the facility has doubled the storage capacity of the Scottville location.
Farmers began bringing grain to the new Scottville elevator after Labor Day.
