G3 Canada Limited is celebrating this week the grand openings of its two newest high-efficiency primary elevators in Saskatchewan.

G3 Melville and G3 Saskatoon West have been taking grain deliveries from area producers since June, and this week marks the grand opening celebration with G3 customers, staff, industry partners and local government officials.

The new facilities further increase G3’s grain origination network in Western Canada and expand the company’s vision, building a smarter path from farmers’ fields to global markets.

Construction on G3 Melville and Saskatoon West began in spring 2017. Similar to G3's other new high-efficiency facilities on the Prairies, the elevators feature 134-car loop tracks capable of loading a full unit train while in continuous motion, and high-capacity drags under the driveway enabling farmers to unload a super-B in five minutes or less without moving.

“These are the latest additions to our growing network of high-efficiency facilities across Western Canada and we are excited to be part of these communities,” says Don Chapman, CEO, G3 Canada Limited. “We’ve already heard very positive feedback from farmers who enjoy delivering to G3 Melville and Saskatoon West because of our responsive, reliable and friendly staff.”

FWS was the general contractor for the two new facilities.

G3 Melville and G3 Saskatoon West are located on CN Rail, providing excellent rail access to G3s Thunder Bay and St. Lawrence River terminals, and to G3 Terminal Vancouver when it becomes operational in 2020.
