Missouri Lawyers and the Associated Press reported on the ongoing cleanup efforts in the Missouri River Flood plain. The 2019 Spring flood destroyed crops, infrastructure and left many communities in dire economic positions. The recovery effort has been difficult and slow going, in part because many areas are still underwater. The area where Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa meet still has roads and farmland underwater, and infrastructures closed.
The clean up isn’t the only thing on residents' minds; a fear of a repeat flood in 2020 is more than wild speculation. Kevin Low, a National Weather Service hydrologist with the Missouri Basin River Forecast Center, says that he has never seen conditions set-up so well for a flood.
