GrainsConnect’s third inland terminal at Vegreville, just 100km east of Edmonton, will open in the spring of 2019 and Huxley will follow in the fall of 2019 marking a total of four operational sites across Western Canada.
Locations in Vegreville and Huxley have been strategically chosen to service growers with GrainsConnect’s game-changing supply chain, and to leverage the momentum created by the successful operations of GrainsConnect terminals in Maymont and Reford, Saskatchewan.
As of June 1st 2018 GrainsConnect has been receiving grain from growers to their Reford, Saskatchewan terminal. Operations in Maymont have been successfully underway since December 2017. Each project features a state-of-the-art 35,000 tonne grain terminal with the ability to load 134 rail cars in under 14 hours. GrainsConnect has seen considerable growth in their Saskatchewan operations since the opening of their first terminal in Maymont.
“We’ve worked hard to build a solid reputation with growers across Western Canada,” says Warren Stow, President of GrainsConnect Canada. “By continuing to deliver great value for their grain and providing expedited delivery options, we’re creating more freedom and choice for growers.”
GrainsConnect Canada is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta and is a joint-venture of GrainCorp and Zen-Noh Group. GrainCorp, with corporate headquarters in Sydney, Australia, has been successfully providing customers with access to Canadian, American and global marketplaces for over 100 years. Zen-Noh Group, a major Japanese agricultural cooperative, was established in 1972 and has grown into one of the largest cooperatives in the world, valued at over 115 billion yen.
GrainsConnect Canada has offered significant support to the communities they operate in, along with their commitment to provide local employment opportunities throughout construction and operation of their facilities. Through their Community Fund and sponsorship programs, GrainsConnect has already invested thousands of dollars in local areas.
“We’re committed to playing an active role in the communities of Alberta and Saskatchewan that we work in,” explains Stow. “By investing in these communities and supporting the families who live there, we can truly become part of their family businesses and grow communities together.”
