The American Feed Industry Association’s (AFIA) free Feed Education Program returns to the 2024 International Production & Processing Expo to update attendees on recent changes to animal food regulations within several federal agencies and provide an outlook on how such changes could affect the animal food industry in 2024.

The two-hour program, to be held January 31, is designed for animal food facility managers and operations and mill personnel looking to learn about the latest regulatory requirements impacting their businesses.

“The AFIA Feed Education Program will keep industry stakeholders informed of potential changes in regulations. Anyone who works in the manufacturing side of our industry – plant manager, operations, quality personnel, safety and health, and others, will benefit from this program,” said Gary Huddleston, AFIA’s director of feed manufacturing and regulatory affairs.

The 2024 education program will feature a presentation on how to prepare a written heat injury and illness plan for animal food manufacturing facilities. The agenda also includes updates on regulatory requirements in the feed industry. Federal agencies, such as the Departments of Labor and Transportation, Environmental Protection Agency, Food and Drug Administration, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), continue to modernize their regulations, making it important for industry professionals to stay informed. This training session will provide attendees with a better understanding of recent changes and give them an opportunity to ask questions about how they can best comply with evolving regulations.

In addition to the informative sessions, the event will also feature the announcement of the AFIA Feed Facility of the Year winner for the commercial feed category. This award recognizes excellence in feed production and highlights the industry's commitment to quality and innovation.

The free AFIA Feed Education Program is open to registered IPPE attendees and will take place from 8-10 a.m. ET on Wednesday, January 31. For more information about the event and to add the program to IPPE attendees’ schedule, visit ippexpo.org.
