“These leaders will provide excellent service to our customers and partners, whether they are a grower, end user, exporter, or railroad,” said Ron Bingham, Scoular Senior Vice President and Grain Division General Manager. “We are focused on the customer — our business is the supply chain and providing solutions to customers throughout the U.S and world.”
The three regional general managers will oversee trade, operations and origination across different geographic areas. TJ Mandl takes the South region after spending his entire 20-year career with Scoular. He helped build the company’s partnership with Pratt Energy in Pratt, Kansas, and focuses on safety, grower engagement and team development.
Matt O’Hern leads the East region. Starting as a management development trainee, O’Hern has worked in merchandising, trading and facility management roles. He previously led Scoular’s Organic and Identity-Preserved Grains businesses and has a talent for understanding complex supply chains.
Billy Shortal manages the North region. The seasoned trader and commercial leader joined Scoular in 2021 when the company added an Eastern Rail trade team to extend its reach across the United States.
Three directors round out the promotions. Melissa Norem moves from producer strategy to Director of Strategic Projects, where she’ll lead business development, including third-party agreements, acquisitions and divestitures, and low-carbon fuel standards initiatives.
Derek Spears becomes Director of Grain Operations, leading operations strategy and execution across the division. Beth Stebbins takes on Director of Sustainability and Producer Strategy, continuing her sustainability work while leading producer strategy. Since joining Scoular’s sustainability team in 2023, Stebbins has built strong farmer relationships and responded to evolving market and regulatory needs.
