Crystal Valley Cooperative has appointed Mitch Altermatt as its next chief executive officer, effective April 28, 2025, following the retirement of longtime CEO Roger Kienholz.

Altermatt most recently served as CEO of United Farmers Coop, where he guided strategic growth and operational improvements. His previous experience includes leadership roles at CHS, with a career focused on serving agricultural communities throughout southern Minnesota.

Raised on a farm in Wabasso, Altermatt brings firsthand understanding of the challenges facing today's producers.

"Mitch is deeply committed to the cooperative model and the rural communities it supports," said Gene Meyer, chairman of the Crystal Valley board of directors. "We're confident his leadership will serve both our employees and patrons well."

Altermatt expressed enthusiasm about his new role: "Crystal Valley has a strong reputation across the region, and I'm honored to join a team that's clearly focused on delivering value to its members."
