Soybean trait innovator diversifies into corn, wheat and sunflower, backed by $25 million GDM investment.

Traitology, a U.S.-based agricultural biotechnology firm, has announced its rebranding as The Traits Company, marking a significant milestone in its rapid evolution since its founding in April 2022. The company, which specializes in soybean trait discovery and development, has expanded its research capabilities and crop portfolio in less than two years, fueled by a $25 million investment from global crop genetics leader GDM.

Key developments include:

  1. Addition of a 25,000-square-foot high-tech research facility and a 5,000-square-foot greenhouse
  2. Expansion of crop focus to include corn, wheat, and sunflower
  3. Development of over 20 trait programs aimed at enhancing soybean crop yields
  4. Leveraging of GDM's elite genetics to accelerate product development

Fayaz Khazi, PhD, Founder and CEO of The Traits Company, emphasized the company's rapid progress: "In under two years, The Traits Company has established itself as a pioneer in target discovery and trait development, driven by a robust research platform and cutting-edge infrastructure."
