The USDA’s December 6 bulletin reports continued dry conditions throughout the middle regions of the nation while considerable precipitation occurred along both coasts.
Thunderstorms brought significant rainfall to the Southeast and Northeast states while on the West coast, winter storms contributed to snowpack from the Cascades as far south as the Sierras.
The middle of the country missed out on needed precipitation as record dry conditions persist there.
States east of the Mississippi River experienced mild average temperatures this week in contrast with colder than average temperatures along parts of the West coast and Northern plains.
