Holdingford Minnesota feed mill fire uncovers historic relics as owners plan rebuild

Owners discover century-old artifacts beneath ruins while preparing to reopen by next summer.

MSN's John Lauritsen reported on a update on the Holdingford Mill that a fire destroyed in central Minnesota in February, ending more than 130 years of service to local farmers. Owners Jeff Burg and his wife are committed to rebuilding, with help from neighboring mills to supply feed in the meantime. During cleanup, Burg’s son-in-law uncovered a forgotten water tunnel, and bricks dating back to 1890 were found beneath the floor, revealing the mill’s deeper history. Burg plans to incorporate these relics into the new mill, aiming to open a new office soon and resume full operations by next summer.
