The Kewanee Voice’s Michael Berry reported that crews are demolishing the historic grain elevator that has stood in downtown Kewanee, Illinois, for generations.
The elevator complex north of the railroad tracks has changed ownership multiple times throughout its history, with Akron Services now owning the property.
The replacement feed mill will be the only such facility for miles around, offering livestock feed, rabbit feed and locally demanded birdseed.
The original structure survived numerous severe weather events including tornadoes, blizzards and a derecho.
