The 2025 Feed Mill of the Future Conference speakers and agenda have been announced by conference organizers on FeedMilloftheFuture.com. The third edition of the annual conference will bring together leading feed industry experts to examine the emerging feed mill technologies and innovations that will affect animal feed production in the years and decades ahead. The half-day event, organized by Feed Strategy and Feed & Grain magazines in partnership with the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA), will be held on January 28, 2025, on the first day of the 2025 International Production and Processing Expo (IPPE).

The conference theme, "How AI and technology will shape the future of feed production," is explored across several themes, including automation, formulation and sensor applications.

Kicking off the event, cybersecurity expert Professor James Gruich will examine how feed producers can protect their operations from cybersecurity threats, as many of the systems the industry uses to assist in efficient operations also can make them vulnerable to cyberattacks.

Here is a brief overview of the 2025 Feed Mill of the Future Conference's presentations and speakers:

CYBERSECURITY PROTOCOLS: Dr. James Gruich, cybersecurity expert and educator, delves into the consequences of ransomware and other cyber threats, highlighting the urgent need for proactive measures. Learn how to build a robust internal defense, develop a comprehensive incident response plan, implement stringent security measures and educate your workforce.

SUSTAINABLE FORMULATIONS: Format Solution’s Ian Mealey explains how formulation software models sustainability scenarios and integrates environmental criteria into recipe optimization to meet your company’s — and your customers' — sustainability targets. Discover how to use formulation to balance cost, nutrition and the environmental impact in feed manufacturing.

AUTOMATION SYSTEMS: Liam Cassidy, Knobelsdorff senior executive director – automation, delves into the benefits of enhanced automation systems for reduced operational costs, improved product quality, and real-time monitoring and data analysis. He will demonstrate how the latest advancements in automation technology allows feed manufacturers to stay competitive and achieve operational excellence.

OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY: Easy Automation’s co-president Brady Gaalswyk provides feed mill managers with actionable strategies to tackle four of the most common feed mill bottlenecks. His presentation offers practical, cost-effective solutions for immediate implementation, making it invaluable for those seeking to improve productivity without major capital expenditure.

AI-POWERED MANUFACTURING: CPM Automation’s sales territory manager Matthew Boland explores the practical steps to prepare your systems with essential infrastructure for AI integration, from robust OT networks to advanced sensors. He will also discuss the gradual evolution toward autonomous, or “lights-out” facilities, examining the path from current ERP interactions to future self-optimizing systems. Gain insights and immediate steps for preparing your feed mill for AI integration.

INVENTORY MANAGEMENT: Ben Allen, CEO of BinSentry, explores the transformative impact of artificial intelligence and automation on feed mill operations and inventory management. He will outline how AI can improve customer interactions, lead to substantial cost reductions and streamline production processes.
