Multiple fire departments were on scene for 16 hours after an explosion at Chandler Feed Company's grain elevator in Chandler, Minnesota, on November 22.
The grain elevator leg exploded, impacting both the elevator and several bins, said Stacey Kruisselbrink, one of the partners in the company.
A press release from the Murray County Sheriff's department said one person was injured and transported to an area hospital for treatment of injuries. The individual’s condition was not known.
According to reports, the grain elevator housed both corn and soybeans and elevated grain to adjacent grain bins. It isn’t yet known how much grain was destroyed by the explosion and fire.
Located in southwestern Minnesota, Chandler Feed Company is owned by the Krosschell family and several partners. It has multiple locations, including Chandler, Edgerton, Woodstock, Hardwick, Leota and Pipestone. The company buys corn, beans and oats and offers feed for beef, dairy, swine, sheep and poultry.
