In my discussion about key trends at Eurotier 2024, I must admit that sustainability was placed front and center, reflecting its importance to the future of animal agriculture. Discussions and innovations emphasized reducing the industry’s environmental footprint while ensuring profitability and efficiency. Below are three key sustainability topics that attracted my attention at this year’s event.
A major focus was on strategies to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions, particularly methane from livestock (cattle in particular). Feed additives designed to suppress methane production in ruminants gained significant attention. These solutions align with global efforts to combat climate change while maintaining animal performance. Producers are expected to increasingly adopt such tools as they balance environmental responsibility with operational efficiency.
